Your Love Came Over Me

Scripture references;

37 On the last and most important day of the festival,  Jesus stood up and cried out,“If anyone is thirsty, he should come to Me and drink!  38 The one who believes in Me,  as the Scripture  has said, will have streams of living water  flow  from deep within him.” 39 He said this about the Spirit,  whom those who believed in Him were going to receive,  for the Spirit had not yet been received,  because Jesus had not yet been glorified. John 7:37-39 HCSB

Recently the Lord has used some lady bloggers to encourage and inspire me. I recently had a touching experience, and they had a part in it and I am just now writing about it. I believe it all started when I was at Debbie’s blog and read this:  http://iftodaywehear.wordpress.com/2010/12/14/made-well/,  and then I wrote an entry at my blog and they both made comments that sparked my memory. Here are the comments they made:

First Debbie said “Theresa, some mornings I feel His presence in waves, washing over me. I never want to get up or have it end! I have no idea why He blesses me like this.”

Then Ann said “I long for the days when I would spend so much time in His presence just sitting there soaking and allowing His love to wash over me.”  Here is a link to one of my favorite posts at her blog:  http://tonirand.wordpress.com/2010/08/02/inconvenient-blessings/ If you would like to read my blog entry and their entire comments you can click here:  https://pronetoponder.wordpress.com/2010/12/15/i-know-who-holds-tomorrow/#comments

There was a time that began when I was in my teens where I really enjoyed listening to Contemporary Christian Music. This would have been in the 80’s. Then somewhere around my mid or late twenties I had some things happen that caused me to go in a direction… I took a break from listening to that particular style of music and explored Southern Gospel a little and then became very interested in hymns. If I were asked who my favorite Contemporary Christian artists or groups were over the past 15 or 20 years I’m afraid I would only be able to name a  few. Thats okay, though, because I can go to youtube and play catch up from time to time.

The comments that these two ladies made touched me in such a special way. They reminded me of a song by a couple of artists that I used to just love to listen to. One was Keith Green and the other was Matthew Ward and the 2nd Chapter of Acts. Below are both the words and a couple links so you can listen. As I listened I was taken back to a time when I was very young and everything was still so new. Can you remember when it was still new? We all need to go back and revisit our “bethels”, and allow the Lord to refresh us!

Your Love Came Over Me by Keith Green

Like a landslide your love came over me

And like an earthquake you you knocked me off my feet

And all at once I knew there was no turning back for me

And now I can see what you mean to me

Like a good book I just can’t put you down

And like a gold mine I’ve been digging what I found

Cause my whole life was leading to the day you came around

The day that I found, you turned me around

The day your love came over me

The day your love came over me

Where was I to go but deeper inside the love that you’d been showing me

When all the doors were closed, your arms opened wide

and now I know that you’re the way, the place I should be

I won’t forget the day that your love came over me

Like an avalanche your love came over me

And like a tidal wave you swept me out to sea

And all at once I knew there’d be no turning back for me

And now I can see what you mean to me

The day your love came over me

The day your love came over me

Where was I to go but deeper inside the love that you’d been showing me

When all the doors were closed, your arms opened wide

And now I know that you’re the way, the place I should be

I won’t forget the day that your love came over me

The day your love came over me

The day your love came over me

The day your love came over me…

Here is the other version of that song. Keith Green wrote it and this is him performing it.

Thank you so much, thoughtful Theresa, for putting this wonderful post together. I read the scripture and Ann’s blog and listened to both versions of the song along with your thoughts and remembrances. I can too easily forget the day His love came over me. I love that He keeps me reminded by pouring it out on me fresh each day. 🙂 His mercies are new every morning . . .
You have such a tender heart. You read and study and ponder it all and let Him direct you to where it should go, which often is a post that blesses us! thank you! love and prayers,

      Deb,
I just wanted to say one more thing.

” I love that He keeps me reminded by pouring it out on me fresh each day. His mercies are new every morning.”

I have been a witness to the very thing you described above. It is like this beautiful afterglow that shines forth from you revealing a heart that is so impacted by that divine love. When I see the way the Lord uses you to constantly encourage us all in your comments and the way you tenderly pour out your heart to the Lord in your posts at your blog…I see those precious attributes…to be meek and lowly, and humble… that reflect our Savior who implores us to come… to exchange those hard yokes and heavy burdens for His “easy” yoke, and “light” burden.

This witness instills hope…and hope maketh not ashamed!

      Love,

      Theresa

Thank you, Theresa. I kind of see it the other way around, and the above describing you. 🙂 I read a post recently and she talked about how each of us will have times with God in which He will give us treasures. It’s up to us to haul them out of that room and share them. They will all be different , from yours, to Ann’s, to Rea’s, to mine, etc. It really struck me and is so true too. I don’t want to miss what treasure He has given each of you to share with me!!!! Nor do I want to not share what He has given me, no matter how simple.
I am so blessed to have met you here! I had no idea when I started blogging of all the wonderful people He had lined up for me! 🙂

“As I listened I was taken back to a time when I was very young and everything was still so new. Can you remember when it was still new?” …

I’ll see if I can get through this without crying….

I can remember. I so can. All I wanted was Him. I’d seek out every opportunity to spend time at His feet. Nothing else mattered but His love for me and my desire to serve Him. It seems there were no bills, no deadlines, no unkind people… whatever went wrong was made right by His love.

Life happened shortly after that and now there are days I struggle to find time alone with Him. Family brings such joy but takes so much attention. I’m thankful for them and all the wonders life has brought but I long for the day when “it was still new”.

Bless you for sharing Theresa and thanks for the link. Deb, thanks for your kind comment. I pray that His love would fall upon us afresh this day and that we would have reasons to sing the way we used to.

Falling in love with Him again,
    ann

      Ann

I like to think about titles. The Lord has so many, and we have so many. The Lord is sometimes called “Master”, but He is also called “Shepherd”, “Father”, and so many more. He is even referred to as “The Bride Groom”. We are called “Servants”, “Sheep”, “Children”, and so many more. But we are also called “The Bride”.

When I wrote this post I was thinking about the “Bride” and “Bride Groom” relationship that is like the one described in “The Song of Solomon”. I was thinking how He is so different than any earthly husband There are some great husbands (I’m awfully fond of mine.), but none can compare to Jesus. He is so in love with His bride.

We might fail to measure up. We will never be that perfect bride untill we go home to be with Him, but in spite of that He longs for those quiet moments…not moments to scold, but moments to just take us in His arms and hold us and comfort us and just to speak tender words to us…declarations of His love.

The thing that makes me the most glad is that no matter what we have done or how long we have tarried He is always very near, and so in love with us that He will always be delighted when we call on Him; always ready to show us again and again just how much He loves us!

I pray that the rest of this week will hold special times of refreshing for you!

      Love,

      Theresa

Thanks for bringing me back in time when I first felt that He came over me, when I first heard a Christian song, when I first step in into Christian service all at the same time — I was around 17 then. It was so beautiful but I was unable to leap from where I was because of family concerns and even when I had my own family. It’s only after 15 years that I took the courage to attend Christian service together with my kiddos. Then my hubby eventually joined and some of the members of my family. Back then I thought I will be leaving them but now it feels that we’re actually altogether!

Whew what an emotional time travel but love it — thanks Theresa!

I didn’t see this until a few minutes ago. It was pending, so I hurried and approved it! 🙂 I am so glad that you were moved to share your story. It is exciting to think how the Lord can use the testimony of his children in His work of bringing others to Himself! 🙂

Oh Rea, what a wonderful thing… to be able to see the Lord work in the lives of loved ones; how He alone can break those barriers down that once separated people from Him and from each other! He truly comes with “healing in his wings” and “restores” those things that were once endangered and destroyed by the caterpillar and the locust.

Praise the Lord! He is outside of time and He even permits us to travel through time, so we can catch glimpses at His unfailing love and power. The book of Joel is so tiny. I believe the whole thing only takes up 2 or 3 pages of the Bible. It speaks of these things. The 34th and 36th chapters of Ezekiel show us some very precious things, too. Things that have to do with love and things that have to do with time…the order of things. 🙂

I hope you have a great weekend “Redeeming the Time”! 🙂

    Love,
    Theresa
