Scripture references;
Psalm 51 (King James Version)
1Have mercy upon me, O God, according to thy lovingkindness: according unto the multitude of thy tender mercies blot out my transgressions.
2Wash me throughly from mine iniquity, and cleanse me from my sin.
3For I acknowledge my transgressions: and my sin is ever before me.
4Against thee, thee only, have I sinned, and done this evil in thy sight: that thou mightest be justified when thou speakest, and be clear when thou judgest.
5Behold, I was shapen in iniquity; and in sin did my mother conceive me.
6Behold, thou desirest truth in the inward parts: and in the hidden part thou shalt make me to know wisdom.
7Purge me with hyssop, and I shall be clean: wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow.
8Make me to hear joy and gladness; that the bones which thou hast broken may rejoice.
9Hide thy face from my sins, and blot out all mine iniquities.
10Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me.
11Cast me not away from thy presence; and take not thy holy spirit from me.
12Restore unto me the joy of thy salvation; and uphold me with thy free spirit.
13Then will I teach transgressors thy ways; and sinners shall be converted unto thee.
14Deliver me from bloodguiltiness, O God, thou God of my salvation: and my tongue shall sing aloud of thy righteousness.
15O Lord, open thou my lips; and my mouth shall shew forth thy praise.
16For thou desirest not sacrifice; else would I give it: thou delightest not in burnt offering.
17The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit: a broken and a contrite heart, O God, thou wilt not despise.
18Do good in thy good pleasure unto Zion: build thou the walls of Jerusalem.
19Then shalt thou be pleased with the sacrifices of righteousness, with burnt offering and whole burnt offering: then shall they offer bullocks upon thine altar.
—————————————————————————————————————————————————————————– 1In the year that king Uzziah died I saw also the LORD sitting upon a throne, high and lifted up, and his train filled the temple.
2Above it stood the seraphims: each one had six wings; with twain he covered his face, and with twain he covered his feet, and with twain he did fly.
3And one cried unto another, and said, Holy, holy, holy, is the LORD of hosts: the whole earth is full of his glory.
4And the posts of the door moved at the voice of him that cried, and the house was filled with smoke.
5Then said I, Woe is me! for I am undone; because I am a man of unclean lips, and I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips: for mine eyes have seen the King, the LORD of hosts.
6Then flew one of the seraphims unto me, having a live coal in his hand, which he had taken with the tongs from off the altar:
7And he laid it upon my mouth, and said, Lo, this hath touched thy lips; and thine iniquity is taken away, and thy sin purged. Isaiah 6:1-7 KJV

The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world. John 1:29
Not too long ago I mentioned in part 1 of this series that I was going to look at each line of Psalm 51 and share what I saw. Psalm 51 is a passage of scripture that I have often gone to when I needed to pray, but was feeling afraid and ashamed, and at a loss for words. I have seen it quoted in portions of responsive reading in some church services.
The past few weeks I have not felt really well physically, emotionally, and even spiritually. I have continued to pray throughout each day and meditate a little on scripture the best I could, but haven’t had a nice devotional time probably since I wrote one of the other posts in this little series. However, I did have an experience that struck me as special and it made me decide that I no longer wish to do a study on psalm 51 at this time. Maybe someday, later, but not at this time. I will share my experience below. This past Monday afternoon I was sitting at the kitchen table and was going to try to answer some Bible study questions so I would be able to participate in a ladies discussion group that night. This group has been studying the book of Isaiah all year. I myself have only attended a few times, so I still haven’t done a good study on the book of Isaiah. Well, I decided to bow my head and pray for guidance before I started reading and answering questions.
When I bowed my head to pray I was feeling similar to the way both King David and the prophet Isaiah seemed to feel in the passages I quoted above. I felt like saying “I am a woman of unclean mind, lips, and hands…my sin is ever before me!” I didn’t say that to the Lord, but I did groan out something like this: “Lord, I will be so glad when I won’t have to feel so ashamed of my sin when I first come to you in prayer. I am so tired of my sin…” Then I remembered the words of both David and Isaiah briefly, but suddenly a piece of scripture appeared in my mind immediately in response to that. Here are the words that jumped into my head:
“Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sins of the world!”
It is true that I have many precious passages that I have memorized and come to cherish, and I quote from them a lot whenever I write a post, but that is not one of them. I still can’t get over those words…”Behold”…a word that tells you to look at something….”Behold what?”…The Lamb of God. What did the Lamb of God come to do? Take away the sins of the world (which included my sins…my failures… my unkept commitments). My Savior is always faithful. His attributes are unchanging:
17Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning. James 1:17
8Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever. Hebrews 13:8 KJV
I never got around to answering those questions, or going to that study that night. I really didn’t feel up to it anyway, and we were having stormy weather. The weather had most of my family and friends a little stressed this week. I live in the South, and we had tornadoes this week. Some went right over us, but they didn’t touch down. I am thankful, but sad for all of the people who were either killed or lost their homes. I am so thankful for the words that the Lord gave me the other night. They reminded me once again that we are not to focus on self , but to focus on the Lamb.
I also would like to mention that I read something the other day that I hadn’t read in a very long time. It is something I really needed to read, because it reminded me of some very important things that I am prone to forget. It has to do with carts and horses…my foundation. Here is the link below. I hope it blesses you.
