Scripture references;
” 8 Good and upright is the Lord: therefore will he teach sinners in the way.
9 The meek will he guide in judgment: and the meek will he teach his way.
10 All the paths of the Lord are mercy and truth unto such as keep his covenant and his testimonies.” Psalm 25:8-10 KJV
<3<3<3<3<3<3<3<3<3<3<3<3
” 1 Now Abraham was old, well advanced in years. And the Lord had blessed Abraham in all things.2 And Abraham said to his servant, the oldest of his household, who had charge of all that he had,“Put your hand under my thigh, 3 that I may make you swear by the Lord, the God of heaven and God of the earth, that you will not take a wife for my son from the daughters of the Canaanites, among whom I dwell, 4 but will go to my country and to my kindred, and take a wife for my son Isaac.” 5 The servant said to him, “Perhaps the woman may not be willing to follow me to this land. Must I then take your son back to the land from which you came?” 6 Abraham said to him, “See to it that you do not take my son back there. 7 The Lord, the God of heaven, who took me from my father’s house and from the land of my kindred, and who spoke to me and swore to me, ‘To your offspring I will give this land,’ he will send his angel before you, and you shall take a wife for my son from there. 8 But if the woman is not willing to follow you, then you will be free from this oath of mine; only you must not take my son back there.” 9 So the servant put his hand under the thigh of Abraham his master and swore to him concerning this matter.

10 Then the servant took ten of his master’s camels and departed, taking all sorts of choice gifts from his master; and he arose and went to Mesopotamia to the city of Nahor. 11 And he made the camels kneel down outside the city by the well of water at the time of evening, the time when women go out to draw water.
12 And he said, “O Lord, God of my master Abraham, please grant me success today and show steadfast love to my master Abraham. 13 Behold, I am standing by the spring of water, and the daughters of the men of the city are coming out to draw water. 14 Let the young woman to whom I shall say, ‘Please let down your jar that I may drink,’ and who shall say, ‘Drink, and I will water your camels’—let her be the one whom you have appointed for your servant Isaac.By this I shall know that you have shown steadfast love to my master.”
15 Before he had finished speaking, behold, Rebekah, who was born to Bethuel the son of Milcah, the wife of Nahor, Abraham’s brother, came out with her water jar on her shoulder. 16 The young woman was very attractive in appearance, a maiden whom no man had known. She went down to the spring and filled her jar and came up. 17 Then the servant ran to meet her and said, “Please give me a little water to drink from your jar.” 18 She said, “Drink, my lord.” And she quickly let down her jar upon her hand and gave him a drink. 19 When she had finished giving him a drink, she said, “I will draw water for your camels also, until they have finished drinking.” 20 So she quickly emptied her jar into the trough and ran again to the well to draw water, and she drew for all his camels. 21 The man gazed at her in silence to learn whether the Lord had prospered his journey or not.
22 When the camels had finished drinking, the man took a gold ring weighing a half shekel, and two bracelets for her arms weighing ten gold shekels, 23 and said, “Please tell me whose daughter you are. Is there room in your father’s house for us to spend the night?” 24 She said to him, “I am the daughter of Bethuel the son of Milcah, whom she bore to Nahor.” 25 She added, “We have plenty of both straw and fodder, and room to spend the night.” 26 The man bowed his head and worshiped the Lord 27 and said, “Blessed be the Lord, the God of my master Abraham, who has not forsaken his steadfast love and his faithfulness toward my master. As for me, the Lord has led me in the way to the house of my master’s kinsmen.” 28 Then the young woman ran and told her mother’s household about these things. Genesis: 24:1-28 ESV
<3<3<3<3<3<3<3<3<3<3<3<3
Today I want to look at Abraham’s servant. He just touches my heart! Did you notice the love? I’m sure he must have had his own moments when he sinned, because the scripture tells us that all people (even people of faith) sin:
“12 Therefore, just as sin came into the world through one man, and death through sin, and so death spread to all men because all sinned— 13 for sin indeed was in the world before the law was given, but sin is not counted where there is no law. 14 Yet death reigned from Adam to Moses, even over those whose sinning was not like the transgression of Adam, who was a type of the one who was to come.” Romans 5:12-14 ESV
However, He knew Abraham, his master, well, and he loved him. It says he was the oldest of his household. That would be pretty old. Just think of all he had witnessed…all of the happy times, all of the sad times..all of his master’s habits, and weaknesses……..and all of his master’s endearing qualities, and his great faith. He also knew his master’s Lord and had faith in Him and Love for Him. Can’t you tell? How else could he speak like that?

Just think about that man.
Wouldn’t you like to spend a day on the job with him, and then sit around the fire with him later on towards bedtime, and listen to the stories he could tell? Just think how privileged you would be if you allowed him to share the wisdom he had gleaned! He is one of my favorite characters in the Bible.
The Lord cared for him, too, and was his guide. He cares for all that he has created, and leads all who trust in Him and in turn, call on Him. He gives them so much cause for rejoicing.

Scripture reference;
“ He hath made every thing beautiful in his time: also he hath set the world in their heart, so that no man can find out the work that God maketh from the beginning to the end.” Ecclesiates 3:11 KJV
“5 The Lord is the portion of mine inheritance and of my cup: thou maintainest my lot.
6 The lines are fallen unto me in pleasant places; yea, I have a goodly heritage.
7 I will bless the Lord, who hath given me counsel: my reins also instruct me in the night seasons.
8 I have set the Lord always before me: because he is at my right hand, I shall not be moved.
9 Therefore my heart is glad, and my glory rejoiceth: my flesh also shall rest in hope.” Psalm 16:5-9 KJV
“ ‘I wanna go home,’ she poured out her mournful complaint.“
If you are a parent you have probably heard your child utter those words.
No matter who you are, you can probably remember murmuring them to yourself on a few occasions. We all have days where we have been at work or school, or even on a fun outing when after a few hours we grow tired and the thought of a nice shower, a good meal, and a soft pillow is the most wonderful thought we can imagine. We might even have family who would be waiting for us there when we return.
Do you remember as a child sometimes hoping that mom or dad or grandma might be there when you got home? You had been around people who finally succeeded; had gotten on your very last nerve, and you knew your family would listen sympathetically as you told them all about it. Or maybe you were at summer camp having a great time, but the sun was setting and you were lying in your bunk, and it just wasn’t quite the same as your room…at home.
You were homesick.
But what if you were “already home”, and you were all grown up; way past grown up? Maybe you were a mom who was pushing 50, and your kids had homes of their own…even families of their own?
This unpleasant, unsettling feeling would envelop you…causing you to feel like that homesick child, and you knew it would be a long, long time before you would arrive at home.

my husband and son about 24 or 25 years ago.

my son and daughter about 19 years ago

my son and daughter about 5 years ago
My nest has been empty about two years now, and my kids are busy enough and live far enough away that our visits are… “few and far between”… that’s the best phrase I can think of that describes my current situation. I feel “homesick” an awful lot.
My kids were my world.
Words can’t even describe just how much I love my kids. If I were asked today who I would want to spend time with more than anyone else my answer would still be the same: “My husband and my kids.” They will always be my favorite company. They will always be their dad’s favorite company, too.
I guess this post sounds a little sad. I even cried just a little while I typed, but it is not always lonely. One thing that really helps is when I pray and study the Bible. It is so strange how, as I turn the pages and read, I feel very much at home there. The people of faith who are found between its covers really are important members of “my” family, and that makes me glad.
Tomorrow morning I have a job interview. I am really hoping that this place will hire me.
My husband is legally blind, and that is putting it mildly. He is 52 years old and had worked all of his adult life until last year. His glaucoma got so bad and he lost enough vision that he had to leave the job he had loved for 17 years. He is home with me now, and he has been a really good sport. I really enjoy being with him, and am content to be a housewife, but we were affected financially in a dramatic way when he gave up his job. We really need me to get a job.
I am also hoping to make some new friends wherever I end up working. I think it, too, would help me with my “homesickness”.
Please keep my family in your prayers.

I was contemplating some things an hour or two ago. I shared them on Facebook, and thought I would share them here, too. If you have followed my blog for a long time you probably have noticed that I often emphasize certain things over and over. I guess with me, good things will always seem new.
Here are my two Facebook posts:
“And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he heareth us:” 1 John 5:14
Our prayers don’t need to be fancy or even expressed in complete sentences.
“26 Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.
…
27 And he that searcheth the hearts knoweth what is the mind of the Spirit, because he maketh intercession for the saints according to the will of God.” Romans 8:26-27
But you know what? There are two prayers that mean so much to me. The first one is the Lord’s Prayer. I love it because although there are many other things that are “sometimes” according to His will, that prayer reveals what is “always” according to the Lord’s will. When I read it I am comforted to know that the Lord will provide those things for me. They are HUGE things.
“9 After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name.
10 Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.
11 Give us this day our daily bread.
12 And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.
13 And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.” Matthew 6:9-13
The other prayer I love is found in John 17. Jesus prayed it for us in the garden before He was lead away to be crucified. It shows us just how sovereign the Lord is and how secure our salvation really is.
I pray the Lord’s will for my family and various friends every day; sometimes several times a day. There are times when there is nothing I can do, and I don’t always have the right words to say to them or even the opportunity to speak to them. But the Lord CAN do it ALL, so I pray. I pray because He has commanded me to pray, and I pray because He has permitted me to pray. What a privilege it is to be able to pray!
Well, I preached. I couldn’t help it. It all just hit me and I had to share it.
Love,
Theresa

I just had another thought. If any of you struggle at times with assurance like I do at times this might really comfort you. The Lord’s ways are always the same. The trinity is a complicated thing, but the Father and the Son are always in agreement.
“Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning.” James 1:17
The same Lord that said this:
…
“And God said, Let there be light: and there was light.” Genesis 1:3
The same Lord also said this:
“10 And all mine are thine, and thine are mine; and I am glorified in them.
11 And now I am no more in the world, but these are in the world, and I come to thee. Holy Father, keep through thine own name those whom thou hast given me, that they may be one, as we are.” John 17:10-11

All of my posts with “Transitions” in the title share a little about me and my family. I thought I would re-blog them, so my readers would have the opportunity to get to know me a little better and follow along on the journey I have been on since February of 2010.
Scripture references;
It is of the LORD’s mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not.They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness.The LORD is my portion, saith my soul; therefore will I hope in him.The LORD is good unto them that wait for him, to the soul that seeketh him.It is good that a man should both hope and quietly wait for the salvation of the LORD. Lamentations 3:22-26 KJV
I know that all God does will last forever; there is no adding to it or taking from it. God works so that people will be in awe of Him. Whatever is, has already been, and whatever will be, already is. God repeats what has passed. Ecclesiastes 3:14-15 HCSB
Well, I guess it is time for another update. In an earlier entry I told you all about my father-in-law passing away, and how my husband had missed a lot of work since the first of January because of the trips we had to make during that sad time. He sprained his ankle about 2 weeks ago, and has not been able to work due to that, as well. On the bright side, his cousin from Kentucky heard us sing at the funeral and asked us if we would be willing to sing and play at a fish fry. The amount we are being paid for that one night is the same as what my husband would earn for three weeks at his regular job.
The new guard that my daughter got from her TMJ specialist is helping a lot. I am so thankful to see her experiencing relief from that awful pain. She will continue to go for monthly adjustments for awhile, and hopefully will reach a point where she will only have to wear it at night.
I made my first resume, and this week my son revised it for me while he was down here on his spring break. I then went to a “Wage Center” in our town, and took my first set of tests to see how much basic knowledge I had. Although I do have a high school diploma, it has been over 20 years since I graduated. I made the highest possible scores in all the categories! I knew all those years of home schooling the kids would benefit me, and not just the kids. I believe the next step is learning to do WORD and EXCEL. The classes at “The Wage Center” are free, and you go at your own pace. I am hoping to actually become computer literate and learn office skills so I can get a job as a dental assistant or a receptionist. I am hoping that if I work really hard and apply myself I might have a job by June. That is the month when we will experience our first cut in our monthly income.
Well, I guess that is all for now. I am thinking about a hymn that has the most encouraging words. We have a faithful and loving Savior. Here is the hymn below. Some of the words in the third verse are also found in Isaiah 41:10: “Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness.”…Did you catch those two wonderful words?…Whose righteousness? The Lord’s righteousness! Not ours. Be glad!
How Firm a Foundation
How firm a foundation, ye saints of the Lord,
Is laid for your faith in His excellent Word!
What more can He say than to you He hath said,
You, who unto Jesus for refuge have fled?
In every condition, in sickness, in health;
In poverty’s vale, or abounding in wealth;
At home and abroad, on the land, on the sea,
As thy days may demand, shall thy strength ever be.
Fear not, I am with thee, O be not dismayed,
For I am thy God and will still give thee aid;
I’ll strengthen and help thee, and cause thee to stand
Upheld by My righteous, omnipotent hand.
When through the deep waters I call thee to go,
The rivers of woe shall not thee overflow;
For I will be with thee, thy troubles to bless,
And sanctify to thee thy deepest distress.
When through fiery trials thy pathways shall lie,
My grace, all sufficient, shall be thy supply;
The flame shall not hurt thee; I only design
Thy dross to consume, and thy gold to refine.
Even down to old age all My people shall prove
My sovereign, eternal, unchangeable love;
And when hoary hairs shall their temples adorn,
Like lambs they shall still in My bosom be borne.
The soul that on Jesus has leaned for repose,
I will not, I will not desert to its foes;
That soul, though all hell should endeavor to shake,
I’ll never, no never, no never forsake.

I thought I would re-blog them, so my readers would have the opportunity to get to know me a little better and follow along on the journey I have been on since February of 2010. This post in particular is interesting to me, because I did end up enrolling in college in the fall of 2011 as a full-time student. I had to drop out in April of 2013, due to my husband’s illness and a few other things. Part of me hopes I will be able to return some day, but right now I feel lead to wait.

I am in need of some helpful advice. After over 22 years I am probably going to re-enter the work force. Below is my story.
I went to high school mostly here in this little town, and graduated here. I had jobs as a teenager, and was enrolled in college for a brief period of time, quit, and went back to work, but shortly after turning twenty years old, quit my job and got married. At the age of 21 I gave birth to my son, and six years…

About a week ago I got back my very first descriptive essay that I wrote for my “Composition I” class. I got a “B-”. I am a first semester freshman who still has much to learn. Perhaps my writing will become more beautiful in time, too. 🙂
We were taken out behind the library on our campus. It is a lovely campus. It is about 100 years old. The buildings are brick with beautiful columns like so much of the architecture in the South. Even the newer buildings were constructed in such a way that they would complement them. The grounds are so pretty…green grass and pretty trees…oaks, magnolias, and a few others.

Here is a picture of the rear entrance to the ATU Library and the crepe myrtle to which this essay is devoted.

Raina Colette
And here is a close-up photo of a Crepe Myrtle like Raina Colette:

Our instructor told us to pick our own tree, give it a name, and use personification, and also to appeal to the five senses as much as possible. Below is my essay:
Raina Collette
A short distance from the rear entrance to the ATU Library there stood one of a number of young Crepe Myrtles that had been selected as a foundation planting. Although she looked much like the others when viewed from a distance, she possessed her own unique charm that was cordial, sanguine, and vivacious at closer inspection. Her graceful, fountain-like shape assumed that of those southern belles one might encounter at a cotillion, while her soft pink plumes were reminiscent of the French lilac, whereas lacking the sweet, heady fragrance of the latter. As the afternoon breeze sifted through her dark green leaves, she shivered with delight. She was no giant like many oaks, nor ostentatious like a magnolia in full bloom, but she managed to make her presence known in that way many young ladies with proper upbringing usually master by the arrival of summer. Any thoughtful onlooker would be compelled to call her Raina Collette.
The five strong and sinewy branches that comprised her trunk reached upward and outward with confident anticipation like the graceful arms of a ballerina that had been poised for a pirouette. Each one had its own distinct contours and curves that might be appreciated as a natural piece of sculpture worthy of display. The tawny bark was smooth to the touch, as if it had been sanded to a fine-textured finish. Although Raina’s branches were slender, they were like the limbs of an accomplished dancer. They would never have been considered frail.
Raina’s leaves were shaped like a mouse’s ear, and at that time of the year were an attractive deep green with delicate veins, but they were not her focal point. However, they remained content to keep their humble place while Raina was in bloom, and waited their turn. Their time to show off would come later in autumn when they would make their debut in stunning shades of red and orange. Still, they did manage to draw a little attention. They cheerfully sang the light notes of a chorus as the wind, their gentle maestro, conducted them. Their song was a soft serenade that would soothe the minds of its small audience on their afternoon breaks outdoors. It could be heard just outside the door of the building, but took one far away from the stress and agitation that is sometimes found in the workplace.
It is true that Raina had a number of beautiful features, but all summer long her blooms were her glory that she wore like a crown. Covered with an array of luscious blooms in a light shade of pink that was the color of strawberry frosting, she was a striking vision of loveliness. Each of her plumes was comprised of an abundance of tiny, delicate, and ruffled, blossoms that were crinkled like crepe paper. Some might say that they had no fragrance, but if one were to inhale deeply at the right time of day, they might detect a light fragrance with just a hint of sweetness, but never overpowering. After all, Raina was a lady.
In my humble estimation, Raina Colette truly was all that her name implied. From her head down to her toes she held all of those captivating qualities that never fail to entice, yet she still was a young lady of discretion and grace. She carried herself with a warm, gentle, and optimistic air. She had an ability to draw a person out of himself/herself without failing to share just enough to cause one to linger awhile under her enchanting spell. Time spent with Raina was time well spent. Her hospitality provided a pleasant afternoon respite that would surely re-energize, and even inspire anyone who might have been suffering from fatigue, boredom, or even frazzled nerves. I am, and forever will be both pleased and grateful to have made her acquaintance.

“People are often unreasonable and self-centered. Forgive them anyway. If you are kind, people may accuse you of ulterior motives. Be kind anyway. If you are honest, people may cheat you. Be honest anyway. If you find happiness, people may be jealous. Be happy anyway. The good you do today may be forgotten tomorrow. Do good anyway. Give the world the best you have and it may never be enough. Give your best anyway.”
