Scripture Reference;
Psalm 103
1Bless the LORD, O my soul: and all that is within me, bless his holy name.
2Bless the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits:
3Who forgiveth all thine iniquities; who healeth all thy diseases;
4Who redeemeth thy life from destruction; who crowneth thee with lovingkindness and tender mercies;
5Who satisfieth thy mouth with good things; so that thy youth is renewed like the eagle’s.
6The LORD executeth righteousness and judgment for all that are oppressed.
7He made known his ways unto Moses, his acts unto the children of Israel.
8The LORD is merciful and gracious, slow to anger, and plenteous in mercy.
9He will not always chide: neither will he keep his anger for ever.
10He hath not dealt with us after our sins; nor rewarded us according to our iniquities.
11For as the heaven is high above the earth, so great is his mercy toward them that fear him.
12As far as the east is from the west, so far hath he removed our transgressions from us.
13Like as a father pitieth his children, so the LORD pitieth them that fear him.
14For he knoweth our frame; he remembereth that we are dust.
15As for man, his days are as grass: as a flower of the field, so he flourisheth.
16For the wind passeth over it, and it is gone; and the place thereof shall know it no more.
17But the mercy of the LORD is from everlasting to everlasting upon them that fear him, and his righteousness unto children’s children;
18To such as keep his covenant, and to those that remember his commandments to do them.
19The LORD hath prepared his throne in the heavens; and his kingdom ruleth over all.
20Bless the LORD, ye his angels, that excel in strength, that do his commandments, hearkening unto the voice of his word.
21Bless ye the LORD, all ye his hosts; ye ministers of his, that do his pleasure.
22Bless the LORD, all his works in all places of his dominion: bless the LORD, O my soul.

As I looked at the first half of verse 5 I found myself a little uncertain about what David seemed to be saying. Here is the verse below:
5Who satisfieth thy mouth with good things; so that thy youth is renewed like the eagle’s.
“5Who satisfieth thy mouth with good things;”…I decided to look up “satisfieth”, “mouth”, “good”, and “things” in my “Strong’s Exhaustive Concordance” to see what it said.
satisfieth:
Strong: H7646
Orig: or sabeay \i saw-bay’-ah\i0\plain\f3\fs21\cf23 ; a primitive root; to sate, i.e. fill to satisfaction (literally or figuratively):–have enough, fill (full, self, with), be (to the) full (of), have plenty of, be satiate, satisfy (with), suffice, be weary of.
mouth:
Strong: H5716
Orig: from 5710 in the sense of trappings; finery; generally an outfit; specifically, a headstall:–X excellent, mouth, ornament.
good: I got “see appendix”, and when I went there all I found was a list of other Bible verses that also used that word, but there is one online that actually had a number and meaning listed. I looked that number up in my own Strong’s Exhaustive Concordance and the same meaning was there. Here it is:
Strong: H2896
Orig: from 2895; good (as an adjective) in the widest sense; used likewise as a noun, both in the masculine and the feminine, the singular and the plural (good, a good or good thing, a good man or woman; the good, goods or good things, good men or women), also as an adverb (well):–beautiful, best, better, bountiful, cheerful, at ease, X fair (word), (be in) favour, fine, glad, good (deed, -lier, -liest, -ly, -ness, -s), graciously, joyful, kindly, kindness, liketh (best), loving, merry, X most, pleasant, + pleaseth, pleasure, precious, prosperity, ready, sweet, wealth, welfare, (be) well ((-favoured)).
things: I got “see appendix” in mine and nothing at the online source, so I skipped it.
Now let’s look at the first half of verse 5 again.
“5Who satisfieth thy mouth with good things;”
At first glance it looks pretty straight forward, especially when you put it together with the second part…it must mean nourishing food, but for some reason I thought it was interesting that it mentioned “mouth”, and not “stomach” or “belly”, because we usually experience hunger in our stomachs. Then as I considered that, the following verses came to my mind:
But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God. Matthew 4:4
O taste and see that the LORD is good: blessed is the man that trusteth in him. Psalm 34:8
I looked up “taste”, and got this:
Strong: H2938
Orig: a primitive root; to taste; figuratively, to perceive:–X but, perceive, taste.
My flesh and my heart faileth: but God is the strength of my heart, and my portion for ever. Psalm 73:26
I looked up “portion” and got this:
Strong: H2506
Orig: from 2505; properly, smoothness (of the tongue); also an allotment:–flattery, inheritance, part, X partake, portion.

Well, I looked up a lot of words in this particular post of mine, but I did that, because I had some thoughts in mind, and I didn’t want to get carried away, so I thought looking them up would be helpful to me.
In Psalm 34:8 we have “taste and see”… We must sample or try in order to see… to perceive. When I pause and consider that, it causes me to think about “Who satisfieth thy mouth” from Psalm 103 and I get that the part of us that tries things, that considers things is satisfied. The Lord is good, and His word is good. It is not bitter, and it does nourish. The Lord is my portion and if I take the time to contemplate that I will always find that He is good.
When I put that all together with the second part of Psalm 103:5 I am happy to discover that there is a wonderful benefit that comes from taking in more of the Lord and His word. I not only am reminded of His goodness, but this knowledge renews my strength, I am reminded that I have eternal life, and in that sense I will never grow old and feeble…my “innerman” or “hidden man of the heart” is young and strong. Eagles are strong and they make their nests in very high places…
1Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ:
2By whom also we have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God.
3And not only so, but we glory in tribulations also: knowing that tribulation worketh patience;
4And patience, experience; and experience, hope:
5And hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us.
6For when we were yet without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly. Romans 5:1-6
————————————————————————————————————————————————————————–
4But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us,
5Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;)
6And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus:
7That in the ages to come he might shew the exceeding riches of his grace in his kindness toward us through Christ Jesus. Ephesians 2:4-7
I think I will conclude this post with the words of both Peter and Paul. I hope the things I have shared will make sense as you read them.
1Likewise, ye wives, be in subjection to your own husbands; that, if any obey not the word, they also may without the word be won by the conversation of the wives;
2While they behold your chaste conversation coupled with fear.
3Whose adorning let it not be that outward adorning of plaiting the hair, and of wearing of gold, or of putting on of apparel;
4But let it be the hidden man of the heart, in that which is not corruptible, even the ornament of a meek and quiet spirit, which is in the sight of God of great price.
5For after this manner in the old time the holy women also, who trusted in God, adorned themselves, being in subjection unto their own husbands:
6Even as Sara obeyed Abraham, calling him lord: whose daughters ye are, as long as ye do well, and are not afraid with any amazement. 1Peter 3:1-6

7Whereof I was made a minister, according to the gift of the grace of God given unto me by the effectual working of his power.
8Unto me, who am less than the least of all saints, is this grace given, that I should preach among the Gentiles the unsearchable riches of Christ;
9And to make all men see what is the fellowship of the mystery, which from the beginning of the world hath been hid in God, who created all things by Jesus Christ:
10To the intent that now unto the principalities and powers in heavenly places might be known by the church the manifold wisdom of God,
11According to the eternal purpose which he purposed in Christ Jesus our Lord:
12In whom we have boldness and access with confidence by the faith of him.
13Wherefore I desire that ye faint not at my tribulations for you, which is your glory.
14For this cause I bow my knees unto the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ,
15Of whom the whole family in heaven and earth is named,
16That he would grant you, according to the riches of his glory, to be strengthened with might by his Spirit in the inner man;
17That Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; that ye, being rooted and grounded in love,
18May be able to comprehend with all saints what is the breadth, and length, and depth, and height;
19And to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the fulness of God.
20Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us,
21Unto him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus throughout all ages, world without end. Amen. Ephesians 3:7-21
