I was contemplating some things an hour or two ago. I shared them on Facebook, and thought I would share them here, too. If you have followed my blog for a long time you probably have noticed that I often emphasize certain things over and over. I guess with me, good things will always seem new.
Here are my two Facebook posts:
“And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he heareth us:” 1 John 5:14
Our prayers don’t need to be fancy or even expressed in complete sentences.
“26 Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.
…
27 And he that searcheth the hearts knoweth what is the mind of the Spirit, because he maketh intercession for the saints according to the will of God.” Romans 8:26-27
But you know what? There are two prayers that mean so much to me. The first one is the Lord’s Prayer. I love it because although there are many other things that are “sometimes” according to His will, that prayer reveals what is “always” according to the Lord’s will. When I read it I am comforted to know that the Lord will provide those things for me. They are HUGE things.
“9 After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name.
10 Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.
11 Give us this day our daily bread.
12 And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.
13 And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.” Matthew 6:9-13
The other prayer I love is found in John 17. Jesus prayed it for us in the garden before He was lead away to be crucified. It shows us just how sovereign the Lord is and how secure our salvation really is.
I pray the Lord’s will for my family and various friends every day; sometimes several times a day. There are times when there is nothing I can do, and I don’t always have the right words to say to them or even the opportunity to speak to them. But the Lord CAN do it ALL, so I pray. I pray because He has commanded me to pray, and I pray because He has permitted me to pray. What a privilege it is to be able to pray!
Well, I preached. I couldn’t help it. It all just hit me and I had to share it.
Love,
Theresa

I just had another thought. If any of you struggle at times with assurance like I do at times this might really comfort you. The Lord’s ways are always the same. The trinity is a complicated thing, but the Father and the Son are always in agreement.
“Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning.” James 1:17
The same Lord that said this:
…
“And God said, Let there be light: and there was light.” Genesis 1:3
The same Lord also said this:
“10 And all mine are thine, and thine are mine; and I am glorified in them.
11 And now I am no more in the world, but these are in the world, and I come to thee. Holy Father, keep through thine own name those whom thou hast given me, that they may be one, as we are.” John 17:10-11

I am so glad you are a part of my world my sister! You are a real blessing to me. The main prayer I pray throughout the day is the Lords prayer. Jesus did not say many words but they are so awesome. The unite perfectly in a very simple way. When the lord led me to write and share, i said i could not write poetry like others, and he reminded me my gift was simply given by Him to me and I simply received it. So it is written in a simple way within his spirit each day…wonderful post and I pray you are well!
Worthwhile
You love became the true answer
To a prayer I often prayed
When I first believed in your promise
That you wanted to share my days
I found Lord that I really needed you
To be the beauty that fills all of my days
Always making your love my daily reality
Always opening my eyes in every way
For your love I find is the truest blessing
Which in this world my life could ever receive
And its radiant richness is a priceless treasure
That shall always be forever locked within me
For your love was more than just an answer
To the prayers my heart would always pray
It’s a pearl that’s discovered of such great worth
That I will cherish past the end of my worldly days
I love you Theresa, and your husband and your family and I will keep you all in my prayers always my sister!

Lovely post, Theresa. A prayer can be as simple as a breath, a whisper, a silence offered up in the Presence of the Lord. Hugs, N 🙂 ❤

Theresa, I love your thoughts on prayer. And I couldn’t agree more that it’s a privilege to pray, and that we don’t need to use complete sentences.
