I appreciated being able to read your poem, Theresa. And I like it.

Is it not fascinating how knowing Christ’s merciful forgiveness allows us to drop pretenses and learn to extend love to others?

Thank you, Heather. It is fascinating. I had to re-post it over and over, because every time I got it spaced the way I wanted it, it would change every time I hit “publish”. Each stanza was supposed to have 6 lines.

Theresa, Excellent first poem! I love it. I didn’t see a single mistake. 😉 I especially like the end – hearing our dear Jesus call “Olly olly oxen free” is so wonderful. Can’t wait for the next one. Peace, Linda

You got skills, you poet you! 🙂 Truly, this blessed me. It reminded me of Adam and Eve hiding in the garden. And it reminded me of His mercy and grace and forgiveness clothing us. Loved the ending!!! And the scripture!!! God bless you woman of the Word and poems!

    Thanks, Theresa!

Wonderful 🙂 (Certainly didn’t read like a first poem to me either!!)

Funny how we think we’re all alone in our situations … great to know He will never leave.

    Blessings,

Well, I have written songs, but I don’t know the the proper way to write the different types of poetry. I just wrote from my heart, and what I have been feeling lately. 🙂

      Blessings,
      Theresa

I had no idea you had dark voices in your head (like me). This is such a beautiful and honest first poem. And it’s really, really good.

I’m always comforted by your words, because I can always relate.

Keep writing, Theresa the poet! ; )

    • January 9, 2012 at 5:27 am

Oh yeah, sure do have those dark voices to contend with…horrible creepy thoughts. Thank goodness the Lord silences them when it gets to be too much.

I relate to you, too. The refuge I have found at times in your candor, and the hope you instill with your faith. 🙂

Thank you so much for the encouragement!

      Hugs,
      Theresa

Your first poem? Wow! And what can I say to your next and the next? Wow! Wowow!

I love your poem because I can totally relate to it. I have been hiding most of my life — from myself, from others, and I am afraid from God too but of course He not only finds me but stays with me and leads me out.

Hugggs and love to you Theresa Anne. Now I know why you love Anne of Green Gables 🙂

This is SO Wonderful, Theresa! And you Are a Poet! I LOVE the “mournful” (condemning) refrain–and then the olly olly oxen Free! I can only repeat, this is so wonderful.

This is my first visit here, courtesy of Deb’s blog–my Spirit Sister. You’ve done a lovely job with offering God’s gift to everyone! May He richly bless you today!

I am so glad you stopped by! Thank you so much for the compliment.

Deb is one of those creatures with “beautiful feet” (Isaiah 52:7) I believe their pitter patter is a sound that is music both to the Lord’s ears and to the ears of those who listen to her poems. 🙂

I can’t wait to come visit your blog!

      Blessings,
      Theresa

I so agree with you about our sis, Deb! Thanks for stopping by my blog today, Theresa–did I tell you that you share my “saintly” cousin’s name?!

I also wanted to say, I think it’s wonderful that you offer Bibles through Bible Gateway to those who may be newly “seeking”–I think I’ll check it out, just to see what’s available online. I wonder what the Apostle Paul would think of Internet missionaries?!! God bless you today.

Thank YOU for guiding me here! I absolutely love this! YOU need to write more poetry 😉

Reblogged this on Moore to Ponder and commented:

This one almost comes across like a child’s poem, but I love children’s poetry, so I’m really not surprised.

What a beautiful, strong poem you wrote. Well done.

  14. March 17, 2015 at 10:04 pm

How I liked the way it rhymes. So fluent and smooth!

Theresa, it’s hard to believe this was your first poem. You captured the essence of a soul stained with sin and the sweet release of it. I hope you continue to write poems. I’ve always appreciated how much can be said with so few words.

    Blessings ~ Wendy ❀

      Thank you so much, Wendy!

I had written some songs. Most were over 20 years ago. This was my first shot at a poem, though.

There are times when I feel moved and seem to be able to crank them out, and then long dry spells. My devotional blogging is like that, too.

      Blessings,
      Theresa
