A Prayer For The New Year…To Be Prayed Daily

Scripture Reference;

7For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.8Be not thou therefore ashamed of the testimony of our Lord, nor of me his prisoner: but be thou partaker of the afflictions of the gospel according to the power of God;9Who hath saved us, and called us with an holy calling, not according to our works, but according to his own purpose and grace, which was given us in Christ Jesus before the world began,10But is now made manifest by the appearing of our Saviour Jesus Christ, who hath abolished death, and hath brought life and immortality to light through the gospel:11Whereunto I am appointed a preacher, and an apostle, and a teacher of the Gentiles.12For the which cause I also suffer these things: nevertheless I am not ashamed: for I know whom I have believed, and am persuaded that he is able to keep that which I have committed unto him against that day. 2 Timothy 1:7-12 KJV

“Thou, O Christ, who wert tempted in all points like as we are, yet without sin, make us strong to overcome the desire to be wise and to be reputed wise by others as ignorant as ourselves. We turn from our wisdom as well as from our folly and flee to Thee, the wisdom of God and the power of God. Amen.”-A.W. Tozer (“The Knowledge of the Holy”)

I know Whom I Have Believed by Daniel Webster Whittle

1. I know not why God’s wondrous grace To me He hath made known,

Nor why, unworthy, Christ in love Redeemed me for His own.

2. I know not how this saving faith To me He did impart,

Nor how believing in His Word Wrought peace within my heart.

3. I know not how the Spirit moves, Convincing men of sin,

Revealing Jesus thro’ the Word, Creating faith in Him.

4. I know not when my Lord may come, At night or noonday fair,

Nor if I’ll walk the vale with Him, Or meet Him in the air.

But ‘I know whom I have believed, And am persuaded that He is able To keep that which I’ve committed Unto Him against that day.’

Ok … this is the third one this morning ( the other two are Debbie and Ben)

My stones haven’t yet rolled, His ways are still higher than mine but “I know whom I have believed, And am persuaded that He is able To keep that which I’ve committed Unto Him against that day”

I have to believe that He will do what He has promised – even as the 11th hour approaches.

God bless you and all the best to you and your family for 2011 and beyond.

    Trusting and unashamed

    Well, they say 3’s a charm. 🙂

I am praying for whatever the 11th hour might represent. He has promised access to unsearchable riches and “unfailing” love. God Bless you, too!

You have no idea how much this spoke to me. I feel very, very “unwise”. I can read His word and read His word and feel as though I am a sieve. I can’t match wits with anyone. But I can believe and flee to Him who is able to keep what I have committed to Him! 🙂 You have made my day and given me a wonderful prayer to pray. . .so perfect as I enter into a new year! 🙂 May yours be blessed with all the wisdom and joy He intends for you to have! love, deb

Oh Deb you have plenty. You are just humble. I learn just as much from your example as I do from the perspective you have when looking at the word. I am so thankful that I have met you here in the world of blogs. God is using you in such a special way. Thank you so much! 🙂

Thank you, Rea! It is always comforting and uplifting to go to your blog, too!
You will have to read my next post. It is about a trip I took. While there I became afraid and upset and behaved badly, but the Lord is so patient…bears all things. Praise his Holy name! 🙂
