A Song I Love To Sing

I have mentioned in some of my other posts that my husband and I have been singing together for over 23 years now. A few years ago our daughter started  singing, too. Below is a song that was often requested. It is not a Christmas carol, but I love the words, and never have to doubt my sincerety when we sing it. God’s love truly is beyond our comprehension!

Boundless Love by Dianne Wilkinson

Boundless love, unending joy.
This is my life, it’s what I know.
And I can’t believe that He selected me,
Jesus, my Lord, it’s You I owe.

He keeps me when I’m weary.
He can hear me when I pray.
He’s even there beside me when I fall.
His love surrounds me even when I go astray.
I guess I’d have to say that He’s my all.

Boundless love, unending joy.
This is my life, it’s what I know.
And I can’t believe that He selected me,
Jesus, my Lord, it’s You I owe.

When my world falls all around me
I call upon His name.
Just in time He takes me by the hand.
Whose ways are perfect just like His Son who bore my shame.
I don’t even have to understand.

Boundless love, unending joy.
This is my life, it’s what I know.
And I can’t believe that He selected me,
Jesus, my Lord, it’s You I owe.

Below is a version of the song I found on youtube that is a lot like ours, except they have three singers, where there were only two of us,and we had no guitars…just my husband playing the piano.

I haven’t heard this before but can see why it’s a favorite! You are so careful about what you read, sing and say . . .I love that! The words to this song are all about Him, and that is a wonderful way to know we are singing something good! Thank you so much Theresa, for taking the time to add Him to our lives in such thoughtful ways. God bless you and your singing family. I know He hears your voices lifted to Him.

I do not know anything about the woman who wrote this song, but the words surely proclaim it. It really is inspiring to read the words others have written, especially in hymns and songs.

    I like it!!

This verse speaks my heart :

“He keeps me when I’m weary.
He can hear me when I pray.
He’s even there beside me when I fall.
His love surrounds me even when I go astray.
I guess I’d have to say that He’s my all.”

It’s great to be surrounded by His love.

    Blessings,
    ann

I’m glad you liked it, Ann. I just edited it. The brown parts were sung by my husband, the raspberry colored parts like the one you mentioned in your comment were sung by me, and in the teal/blue part at the bottom my husband sang the melody and I sang the harmony part which was a 3rd above him. I looked on youtube for a version to put up. Maybe I will look again.

I was always self-conscious about singing unto the Lord in church. I enjoyed it, but there was always that temptation to focus so much on hitting the note correctly, and I knew that it is the heart’s attitude that the Lord was concerned about, so I would sometimes sort of pray while I sang…had a habit of closing my eyes, because I really did want to be worshiping the Lord. At home I sometimes slip and focus the wrong way, but then the words will sometimes grab me and bring me back to worshiping again. Since we knew that song so well I often would be singing with my lips, but my heart would be far far away remembering the faces of precious saints that had shown so much love to me at a time when it was so desperately needed…saints that are living in Heaven now…and also of my precious Savior who has continually had His hand upon me and wrote all of my days in His book before one of them came to be (Psalm 139:16 HCSB).

    Bless your heart!

I came back to ask if you had a link to the song 🙂

Hope someday I can hear your family sing. If not this side, then we’ll meet on the other side of Jordan.

“I don’t even have to understand” Amazing and powerful. It’s so not about me. Thankful He selected me. If He was waiting on me to select Him, He probably would still be waiting now. So happy He chose me!

    Selected,
    ann
